Job Description:

Position Overview

Siemens Building Technologies (BT) is seeking a senior manager to oversee the field logistics and warehousing activities of its national operations. The role has responsibility for providing strategic leadership and operational management of the logistics processes and organization within the Siemens BT US field organization. This position includes a team of 4 direct reports and oversees a total organization of 60 employees distributed across the BT US field locations. This position reports to the Director of Supply Chain for Siemens BT Americas.

Key objectives of the position include:

· Improve and maintain strong operational performance measured by targets of on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and customer survey results

· Drive year over year increases in productivity

· Lead a multi-year strategic transformation to ensure the field logistics processes and organization are capable to meet the needs of the division’s profitable growth objectives

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership to:

  • Develop and execute logistics initiatives required to support Siemens BT strategic objectives

  • Drive organizational culture initiatives on health, safety, environment and quality

  • Pro-actively engage with Field Operations in forecasting and planning large material demands.

  • Support Field Operations in logistics planning and execution for large and complex customer projects

  • Drive logistics process improvements that reduce costs and/or increase productivity and quality to the Field Operations organization

  • Identify and evaluate new technologies / innovations that offer increased logistical efficiency and transparency

  • Optimize the Field Operations warehouse network to maximize service levels and minimize costs and working capital

  • Maintain a strong dialog with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment to business objectives and realizing support for logistics initiatives

  • Expand organizational capabilities from warehousing-focus to end-to-end logistics management

Provide operational leadership to:

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations

  • Ensure compliance with inventory cycle count and control processes

  • Develop and maintain adherence to standard procedures and guidelines

  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions

  • Maintain and develop staff through training, coaching, and counseling

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

  • Ensure good condition of facility/equipment through regular audit and implementation of preventative maintenance protocols

  • Manage third party contracts for logistics services

  • Respond timely and professionally to customer complaints and inquiries

  • Conduct capacity planning and ensure labor and equipment resources balanced with demand

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline

  • 5-10 years of leadership experience in a logistics function

  • Up to 50% travel, primarily domestic

  • Superior decision making and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Master’s degree in business, logistics or engineering

  • Experience with SAP
