Senior Rotor System Design Engineer

Boulder, CO

Position Overview

Siemens Wind Power (SWP) is a dominant player in the global wind turbine market and maintains its position by offering state-of-the-art products made possible by a team of exceptional employees. SWP is currently seeking highly talented and motivated candidates for the Senior Rotor System Design Engineer position at our Boulder Center of Competence to drive innovation and design efforts for Siemens next generation turbine blades.

Responsible for new blade designs at SWP, the Boulder Center of Competence brings together a multi-disciplinary group of engineering experts in aerodynamics, acoustics, structures, loads and controls that work concurrently to solve design and technology problems.

Job duties:

  • Develop and drive scoping of new technologies and product designs

  • Develop technology strategy for wind turbine rotor blades

  • Lead feasibility studies of new rotor design concepts

  • Use systems engineering techniques to evaluate and review new designs

  • Facilitate and communicate basis for technical decisions

  • Responsible for cross-disciplinary alignment and communication between the blade design department and other component departments during new product development, or Technology projects

  • Coordinate technical issues across projects

  • Engages in coaching; mentoring and guiding junior employees

  • Continually challenge the status quo to foster innovation, improve quality, or reduce design cycle time.Successful candidates are required to possess the following:

  • You have 10+ years of experience in the wind industry

  • You have experience with wind turbine product design

  • You have experience with systems engineering and design for manufacturing

  • You have educational background in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering

  • You have a Master degree in Engineering

  • You have experience with different composite manufacturing conceptsSuccessful candidates are desired to possess the following:

  • International engineering experience preferred

  • Previous experience in cross functional and international teams

  • Experience in technical leadership and mentorship
