The Field Service Technician is a field-based, customer-facing role that primarily installs, services, maintains and modifies Siemens imaging equipment at customer sites. Our FSTs represent the "Face of Siemens" to the customer. The Field Service Technician reports to the Regional Service Manager at Siemens Medical Solutions.
Our Field Service Technician will perform service, preventative maintenance, modifications and installations on AXA, AXD and SP diagnostic imaging equipment at customer sites with minimal supervision. Establish and maintain proper business relationships with customers and peers, as well as performing necessary administrative duties accurately.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
Minimum high school diploma; experience in testing, repairing and maintaining capital medical equipment; strong electronics and computer background needed; previous experience with AXA, AXD and SP strong preference; 2+ years of field service experience is needed, as well as strong customer service and communication skills; must be proficient in the use of tools and service test equipment; valid driver's license and good driving record required; must be able to work both individually and in an established team setting; must be willing to work different shifts as business needs dictate; ability to travel and provide service in assigned geography; willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after training and certification.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
Technical associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; previous experience with AXA, AXD and SP equipment strongly preferred.
General Requirements: Job Family Responsibilities:
Participates in semi-complex equipment installation, trial runs, investigative tests, repairs and overhauls. Participates in training customers on semi-complex products and services. Performs semi-complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and maintains documents of all installations, inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures. Participates in responding to semi-complex service or systems calls. Participates in the assessment of semi-complex product/equipment performance based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements.
Associates degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training preferred. HS diploma or equivalent required. Specialized skill training/certification may be required.
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates comprehensive working knowledge of a technical or specialty area, and of operations, methods, and practices.Generally, 2-5 years of successful experience in area of responsibility and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
Key Working Relationships:
Primarily intra-organizational contacts and limited external contacts.
