Job Description:

Process Overview

Guides the assembly, testing and completion of all products within the Siemens Analytical Products Group in an efficient zero defect, cost effective manner. Leads and guides very complex product manufacturing to ensure that cost effectiveness, manufacturability, quality, and uncompromised safety requirements are attainable in the production process. Leads and guides the development of the accuracy and availability of very complex procedures to support product modifications and assembly. Continuously guides and provides leadership while balancing employee, material and machine to meet an operational excellence plan consistent with customer needs, inventory restraints, and profit requirements. Successfully defines work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Area of responsibility is to primarily strategically align the Siemens global, divisional and local strategy and convert that strategy to results oriented tactical/operations. Develops and manages departmental budgets and/or business plans for a small to mid-size department or business unit. Typical responsibility for innovation is to continuously enhance or improve existing policies, products, and methods. Identifies resource needs and develops justification. Troubleshoots and resolves very complex problems. Recommends/ determines organizational structures and supervisory relationships for own segment of company. Ultimately with leadership, responsible for overall implementation and successful deployment of the manufacturing function, initiative and/or project to include:

  • Optimize inter-organizational and external contacts.

  • Supervises multiple employees, several disciplines. Operations oriented to include exempt-level employees and/or supervisors.

  • Maintains high performance management

  • Responsibilities for employees to include direction, hiring, firing and promotion decisions.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Education

BS/BA in related operations excellence discipline or advanced degree, where required. Certification may be required in some areas. Demonstrates and applies advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for area managed and basic knowledge of other areas in the company and how they interact. Has demonstrated a proven track record in driving continuous improvement of efficient application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action. Typically 8+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above. Demonstrated knowledge of managing a one piece flow, pull manufacturing system is required.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Education

Experience with Lean Enterprise Management, coupled with effective team building and execution of lean initiatives is preferred. Experience with change management, high performance culture development and always challenging the organization is preferred. Working knowledge of digitalization and automating processes in modern – non paper driven process is preferred. Experience with Enterprise Requirement Planning tools such SAP is preferred. The ability to utilize traditional SAP requirements planning and integrating modern PULL Kanban systems is preferred. Prefer assessment experience, such as the internal proprietary Go4Excellence process, to be able to articulate vision to an action plan in the spirit of maximizing assessment results.
