The Senior Sales Applications Engineer for Advanced Software Solutions reports to the Head of Sales for Siemens Intelligent Traffic Solutions (ITS). This role works with the Direct Sales team, the Bid and Project Management team and the Traffic Systems team and acts as the subject matter expert on Siemens ITS product offerings for TMS, ATMS and Connected Vehicle applications. Austin, TX would be ideal location, but can consider all other cities across the US.
Responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
-Assist sales and operations in the identification, qualification, development, procurement and execution of SW projects
-Conduct customer visits alone or jointly with Sales account managers and/or distributors to present the Siemens Advanced SW solutions portfolio and show Siemens value add
-Act as technical lead on advanced SW solution projects, including generation and review of requirements and design documents, and technical oversight of implementation and deployment activities
-Conduct project site visits alone or jointly with Project Management organization as part of deployment and implementation of Advanced SW solution projects
-Develop and present technical concepts for customized Advanced SW solutions to the PLM group, sales team, management, and customers
-Participates in customer meetings and presentations, acting as an ITS technical expert
-Communicate with procurement, outside vendors, consultants and partners as part of technical lead and project delivery oversight activities
-Support proposal responses by reviewing RFP requirements, designing and describing technical solutions, and other written documentation as necessary to support proposal generation efforts
-Support implementation of Advanced SW solutions projects
-Keep up to date with the industry and gather market and competitor intelligence in the area of ITS Advanced SW solutions
-Present at regional and national conferences on Siemens ITS technology and solutions
-Provide specialized technical training to customer and distributor technical staff
-Provide sales training and technical training to internal and external sales channels
-Interface with PLM and R&D department
Competencies required for this job include:
-Significant experience (8+ years) in the traffic control industry
-Experience with traffic management and adaptive traffic control systems
-Able to write and diagram clear descriptions of complex technical solutions
-Able to translate user requirements into effective system designs using appropriate ITS technology
-Technical expertise in the areas of computer hardware, software, and networking
-Able to design, document, and troubleshoot field communications and IP networking solutions
-Familiarity with Project Management methodologies
BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA preferred.
